Pre A.P. Chemistry

This is an honors level introductory Chemistry course.  Students are recommended for this class based on their performance in previous science classes and TAAS / TAKS performance.  Passing grades will be weighted 10 points in GPA calculation as stated in the student handbook.

Burrow D. Mole says:
"Hey! Hey!  Don't forget Mole Day!  October 23rd from 6:02 am to 6:02 pm!"

Chemistry requires good math skills and logical thought processes.  Successful chemistry students generally will have at least a B average in previous science and math classes, and will have passed appropriate portions of TAAS or TAKS math or science tests.

Chemistry is the study of the structure and interaction of matter.  Topics covered will include the process of science, handling numbers in science, types of matter, properties of matter, atomic structure, the mole concept, naming and writing chemical formulas, predicting and balancing chemical equations, states of matter, solution chemistry, and more.
